(21/03/00) Collector Theo van der Burg has made a very good CD transfer of Bell Labs' Early HiFi and Stereo recordings. The sound is so fine that it is nearly unbelievable that the recordings are from 1932. If you want to know what the "Philadelphia Sound" really was, you need these recordings. The disc contains the remaining material which is missing on Iron Needle IN 1402 (see below): Wagner: Ride of the Valkyries from Die Walküre Wotan's Farewell and Magic Fire Music from Die Walküre Forest Murmurs from Siegfried Funeral March and Finale from Götterdämmerung Philadelphia Orchestra, rec. live 30/04/32 The CD can be ordered at the price of $15 from T.W.van.der.Burg@hro.nl |

BEWARE: This set is faulty. On some CD players occur severe
tracking problems, which have been reported by several collectors. I am still
having them myself. When I first had my set completely exchanged, I received
another faulty disc that was definitely not playable on any CD player. The
Philadelphia Orchestra still denies that there is a pressing fault. A
re-pressing is not in sight.
